Edson Gandiwa, MSc. Edson Gandiwa is an ecologist with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZPWMA), based at Chipinda Pools, Gonarezhou National Park. He joined the ZPWMA in 2004. A graduate of the National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe (BSc Hons-Environmental Science and Health, 2004) and the University of Zimbabwe (MSc-Tropical Resource Ecology, 2007). Currently he is a PhD student at the Resource Ecology Group of Wageningen University, the Netherlands. His scientific research interests include community ecology, fire ecology and natural resources management.

Shakkie Kativu, Ph.D. A graduate of the University of Zimbabwe (BSc., Ph.D), Dr. Kativu is a senior lecturer in plant evolution and systematics, and coordinates the graduate Tropical Resource Ecology Programme, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Zimbabwe. He joined the Department in 2004. Over the years, he has chaired the Department of Biological Sciences, and taken an active role in university administration. He has authored for several leading journals, including the Botanical Journal of the Linnaean Society, Nordic Journal of Botany and Bothalia. He is co-editor of journal Kirkia, and has co-edited African Plants: diversity, taxonomy and uses (Kew Publications, London). He reviews for journal Bothalia. He has contributed papers to professional conference proceedings of AETFAT.
