| Focus and scope overview |
Koedoe welcomes contributions that address all aspects of protected area and conservation science, with a specific focus on Africa. We encourage submissions that further our understanding of complex social-ecological systems, protected areas and conservation in general, in order to improve our ability to sustainably manage our natural resources. This is becoming increasingly important as protected areas and natural resources are facing severe pressure from growing human populations and the interaction with global environmental change. Additionally, we include advances in evidence based policy and management approaches, in order use scientific advances to assist with context specific real world management challenges.

| Publication frequency |
Koedoe publishes one issue per year. Individual articles are published as soon as they are ready for publication by adding them to the table of contents of the 'current' volume and issue. In this way, Koedoe aims to speed up the process of manuscript publication from submission to becoming available on the website. Special issues may be added on an ad hoc basis to the journal throughout a particular year which will form part of consecutive issues thereafter.
